What is ToldByMe?
ToldByMe is a memoir app designed for seniors that helps you preserve your life stories. It uses AI-guided interviews to ask meaningful questions about your life, supports voice dictation so you can speak instead of type, and organizes your memories into a beautiful timeline you can export as a PDF book.
Do I need to create an account?
No. ToldByMe works entirely without an account or login. Your memoirs and memories are stored locally on your device. Just download the app and start writing.
How do AI interviews work?
When you start a new interview, the AI asks you thoughtful questions about a particular life era (childhood, school years, career, etc.). You respond by speaking or typing, and the AI follows up with relevant questions based on your answers. You can skip any question or end the interview at any time.
Is my data private?
Yes. All your memoirs, memories, photos, and recordings are stored locally on your device. When you use AI features, only the minimal text needed is sent through our secure server for processing and is never stored. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I share my memoir with family?
Yes! You can export your memoir as a PDF document with table of contents and photos included. Share it via email, AirDrop, Messages, or print it as a keepsake book.
Is the app accessible?
ToldByMe was designed specifically for seniors. It features large text (18pt minimum), oversized tap targets, high contrast, VoiceOver support, and voice-first input. The navigation is intentionally simple -- never more than 2 levels deep.
